Dark Star > St. Stephen > The Eleven > King Bee > Death Don't Have No Mercy
- The beginning of Dark Star is cut, probably a couple minutes are gone.
- splice in Eleven at 0:55: perhaps a minute is missing
- cut in The Eleven at 2:46
- Death Don't cuts out near the end
This is a minor upgrade to the previously circulating version ( http://db.etree.org/shn/9376 ), hiss and distortion are less present. At least the first 20 minutes clearly sound better, the quality worsens at about 23 minutes and I am unsure which tape actually sounds "better". To repeat the comment of the JJoops/Jack Warner seed, "This recording is not stellar in sound quality, and therefore might be better suited to the completists and fans of early Dead."

Gargly. Lots of versions of these great songs are more listenable elsewhere.

The Holy Trinity is always worth a listen
Not that good a recording, but it's worth wading through for fans of the Holy Trinity, DS-St. Stephen-The 11. At least there is very little audience noise. I always imagine some Deadicated Head surreptitiously taping the show from the back of the venue when I hear these old AUD recordings. The 1970 Mammoth Gardens show is the best of this sort.

Dark Star
I was backstage with Jerry and he had all this extra ketamine so he said lets try some so he smoked, snorted, dermapatched and supositoried some and then he said i forgot this is a dissociative anesthetic so he said he was going to make up some new words to "Dark Star" so he did and called it "Lone Star" and he said now I sound like Willie and Waylon and Hank and Bobby's face melted and thats why this is the best "Star" ever.

sift through
Just listened to this Dark Star on the way in to work. I must say that the sound leaves something to be desired, but if you work through it, it is explosive. Lightning fast guitar, Jerry is on fire. Well worth a listen in my opinion. One star for sound, five for the D/S.

Sub-par sound
Performance was fine and completists will have a record of a Fall, 1969 Fillmore East show, but a sampling of the VBR stream and .ogg files wasn't really listenable in a conventional sense.
